The handful of bots in targeting practice are a joke for training any shooting skills. That should be level 1 of an elaborate skiing/impulse/capping tutorial complete with side challenges and time trials for each class. The biggest issue isn't even that the basic mechanics are hard, but rather HiRez didn't implement enough to comfortably immerse your average noob into meaningful skill improvement.

In other words, it creates a middle ground between those who can and those who can't. To say the least, the game is utter shit in that paradigm, and while I feel for our high ping brethren and their chain woes, it still plagues the game to a small degree.įor all the difficulty that removing hitscan introduces, it also increases the difficulty that all those skilled players have on pwning noobs by raising the skill cap and differentiating what it means to be skilled even more. For a time, there wasn't even falloff or recoil on the chain weapons, so you could quite literally cross map auto snipe on a small map like Crossfire, and chasing was an absolute joke (as in easy) because the only challenge was getting up to speed in a somewhat similar direction and from there it was just spamming your auto on a target that moves relatively little on your screen. T:A was actually all about the hitscan for quite some time in early beta.
